Iran, Russia support reforms in Syria

Iran Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Russian counterpart Mikhail Bogdanov, in their meeting here on Tuesday, declared Tehran and Moscow support for continuation of reforms in Syria.
The two sides discussed bilateral, regional and international issues and considered situation in Syria, Bahrain and Yemen and underlined common stance of Iran and Russia on regional developments.
After the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian said that Iran-Russia viewpoints concerning the Middle East developments are very close to each other.
Concerning Syrian developments, he said that foreign interference against Syrian government is doomed to failure and Iran and Russia believe any kind of sanction against Syria is unacceptable.
Referring to a session of the so-called friends of Syria in Tunisia, which had no achievement, Amir-Abdollahian called it the last effort of west-Arab axis and added that the fate of Syria must be determined by its own nation.
He expressed hope that Syrian problem could be settled through an appropriate solution without any foreign interference.
Concerning situation in Bahrain, which was discussed with Russian counterpart, Amir-Abdollahian said that the conditions in Bahrain is not good and international community should pay attention to the legitimate demands of the Bahrainis.
About current situation in Yemen, he said that Persian Gulf Cooperation Council has presented an incomplete plan and has not paid attention to the people demands.
The Iranian senior diplomat said that Tehran-Moscow believe that situation in the region is very sensitive, so consultations between officials of both countries should continue.
Deputy Foreign Minister in Middle East and North African Affairs arrived in Moscow on Monday afternoon for a 2-day visit.
