Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mehdi Ghazanfari said that a team of Iranian businessmen and industrialists will visit Windhoek, Nambia, to explore ways to develop mutual economic cooperation.
He told reporters after meeting Namibian Foreign Minister Utoni Nujoma and Minister of Mines and Energy Isak Katali that the Iranian businessmen will study the grounds for investment and setting up manufacturing units for which raw materials are available in abundance in Namibia including cement factory.
He said the Namibian officials have called for development of cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all areas.
Ghazanfari said that level of trade between the two countries falls short of the capabilities on the ground citing rich mines in Namibia.
Responding to a question about sanctions being imposed on Iran by the western governments, Ghazanfari said that sanctions have no winner and that imposing sanctions on Iran is a political ploy.
He said that the governments imposing sanctions on Iran are losing the 70 million population market as a result of which they deal a great blow to their own economies and increase their jobless people.
'On the other hand, by imposing sanctions on Iran they undermine the energy security, something which is detrimental to the future of the European countries.'
Ghazanfari said that the past experiences showed that sanctions have helped Iran attain self-sufficiency thanks to the progress in science and technology.
He said that Iran has planned to replace the European markets with new markets which possess potentials for cooperation in the field of modern technology.
He advised the western governments to give up Iranophobia and rather embark on cooperation with Iran to change the current process of lose-lose to win-win.
